All About Tollers

So you think you want a Toller...

We think Tollers are wonderful but do not recommend them for everyone. Tollers are energetic, intelligent dogs that require daily mental and physical exercise. If your normal routine consists of working away from home, then watching hours of television every evening, a Toller is not an appropriate canine companion for you. On the other hand, if you like doing things outdoors and have a great throwing arm, or enjoy actively participating in one or more various dog sports (hunting, agility, obedience or flyball to name a few), then a Toller may be just the dog for you. Even so, consider these adjectives which are commonly applied to Tollers:

  • Persistent
  • Clever
  • Energetic

While those descriptors may sound positive, consider how you may feel upon coming home after a long hard day at work to see your energetic Toller fixing on you with a pleading eye to throw the ball he has cleverly dumped into your shoe for the 20th time in a most persistent manner.

Tollers have also been known to do the following:

  • Shed
  • Scream
  • Counter Surf
